Gwen Bain of Peregian Beach has been winning awards at the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show at Nambour for the past 17 years, and this one was no exception.
The show favourite again took home the lion’s share of awards.
She won first prizes in the categories of miniature wedding cake and decorated birthday or special occasion cake. She also gained first and second places for the sugarcraft category, with second placings also for novelty iced cake and decorated wedding cake of two-tier or more.
Gwen puts her success down to always searching for new techniques and learning new ways to change and improve her designs.
Gwen was not the only Noosa Shire resident to shine at the Nambour Show at the weekend, with participants taking away prizes in an array of categories.
Billy Rayment of Cooran won the grand prix of men’s show jumping with his horse Anton while young Taylor Ritter of Divine Horses gained wins for showmanship and trail in the Under 8s section with his miniature horse LJ.
Noosa State High School students also took home awards for their British Female Cattle.
The students won Reserve Junior Champion Female in the 12-21 month category and Senior Champion Female in the 21-30 month category.
