Raising the steaks: Nobu-inspired Fish House fires up in Mooloolaba

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli cut the ribbon at the grand opening of Fish House Steak & Grill in Mooloolaba on Thursday 11 September, celebrating the venture as another milestone for the region’s dining scene.

The Nobu-inspired restaurant is the latest project from locals Kristine and Todd Young, the husband-and-wife team behind the award-winning Bella Venezia Group.

“This couple are putting Mooloolaba on the culinary map,” Mayor Natoli said.

“I met Kristine in the carpark of Channel 7 in 1997. I watched when Kristine and Todd took over Bella Venezia and transformed it into the absolute sensational dining location that it is.

“There’s always a risk when you take on something as special as fish. And then to find that it’s this team, using local products and local produce… so local that the team will walk over to the trawler and come back with their arms full of seafood, you cannot get any fresher than that. And that commitment to our local industry is what will set them apart.”

Executive chef Ben Achurch leads the culinary team, bringing experience and passion for The Spit’s celebrated seafood culture.

Kristine Young said the opening was a labour of love.

“Todd and I have put everything into this. Our hearts, our soul, our energy, our time, invested our money, everything. And it’s just us. We are a family business,” she said.

The menu is modern coastal touched by a Japanese-fusion flair.

Todd said, “It is an amazing menu and I’m super excited.”

Just over 30 minutes south of Noosa, the restaurant is set to become a must-do destination for those seeking high-quality steak and seafood with distinctive sauces on the Sunshine Coast.
