Walking football takes legs

Noosa''s inaugural walking football team.

Walking Football Sunshine Coast kicked off its first ever game with plenty of enthusiasm when 19 players turned up last week for the first training session, despite battling an oppressive 32 degree heat.

Organiser Dom Massoni said many more are expected next week.

“It was a good learning experience for all of us, and above all a lot of fun,” he said. “We had a lot of stumbles and laughs along with plenty of banter. I’m a bit stiff in the legs but can’t wait for next week.”

The club thanked Alan Templeton from Brisbane for showing them the ropes of the game and the group hopes it gain enough numbers to have both over 50’s and over 60’s teams.

Training times will be pushed back an hour to be held on Monday from 5-6.30pm at Coolum Crusaders Soccer grounds at Coolum Sports Complex, 1946-1974 David Low Way (behind the RSL). Phone Dom on 0408 853 468 or Jeff on 0481 059 174 or check out Facebook.
