Run Taylor-made to support burn injuries

TEWANTIN-BASED firefighter Amie Taylor will be one of nine Queensland firies taking on the Bridge to Brisbane run in a full turnout suit to raise funds for children with burn injuries.
Amie, 41, will join a team of eight other firefighters as they tackle the 5km run on Sunday 28 August dressed in their full protective gear they would wear when called out to a fire.
“Our goal is to raise money for the burns unit at the children’s hospital, to rally for a fellow firefighter and to have a positive impact on our community,” she said.
“We will all be doing the 5km, wearing our full turnout gear, and I have been tasked with raising $700. Our team really needs some help.”
The turnout suits are very heavy, but Amie said that’s the whole point,
“The idea is to put in a little extra effort for other people,” she said. “It’s what we do for a job.”
Amie has been stationed at the Tewantin Fire Station since October last year, and this year competed in the King of the Mountain race where she placed second in her division.
“It’s really important to stay involved and connected with the community,” she said.
And now Amie is calling on the community to support her as she takes on this next physical challenge to raise much-needed funds for children who have suffered burn injuries.
