The Tewantin-Noosa RSL Club has come a long way from when it was founded in 1920 by the Buchanan-Ross families as the Tewantin RSL Club to the upmarket establishment unveiled on Saturday following its recent $7.6m upgrade.

Evonne Goolagong Foundation chairperson and tennis champion Evonne Goolagong-Cawley officially opened the club praising its efforts to support the community, in particular by helping children in sport and education and in providing a wonderful facility for families to enjoy.

Manager Phil Stephenson said the refurbishments included a new lounge, entrance, bar and kids area with the 270-seat restaurant catering to two sittings on Friday and Saturday nights. The popular club opened on Anzac Day to thousands of locals who had come to Anzac Day services.

One of the features of the work includes three circular windows showcasing iconic photographs of the army, navy and air force.

Over the years the clubhouse has undergone several renovations and extensions and was even rebuilt in 1967 after being destroyed by fire.
