Under 6s Noosa Fins v Eumundi Dragons

This weekend the much improved Fins took on the entertaining Eumundi Dragons. The enthusiasm from both teams made an epic contest with our boys chasing hard right to the end. The back and forth contest made for an absorbing game, highlighted by Lennox’s man of the match performance.

U6s Noosa Reds v Caloundra

The Reds played well with Louis being awarded Dominoes Player of the Week. Awesome try scoring by Louis, Harry, Zac, Cooper and Archie.

Under 7s Noosa Fins v Caloundra Gold

The Fins flew out of the blocks in and had their first try on the scoreboard in a matter of seconds, through some swift passing, skilful running and a diving try in the corner by Owen Wilson. Dominoes Player of the Week Arlo Hillen had his best game in a Dolphins jersey and was involved in most of the Dolphins attacking plays.

Under 7s Noosa Reds v Caloundra Black

The Reds found the going tough and had to be organised and speedy in defence to keep the visitors pacey attack at bay and the try count close to parity. Dominoes Player of the Week Henry Brennan never stopped running for the team, with devout support by Lewis Ramsden who was awarded ‘best & fairest’ by the opposition at the end of the game.

U8 Noosa Reds vs Caloundra Gold

Caloundra are always a well-coached team and this was reflected in the early stages of the game as they crossed for a couple of tries. The Reds however lifted their tackling and began making solid individual runs through the Caloundra defence crossing for a few tries. The second half was very similar to the first, Caloundra have a few players with afterburners and crossed again for a couple of tries early. The Reds put on their best try so far this season mid-way through the second half, combining ruck, passing, offloading and support play skills.

U8 Noosa Fins v U8 Brothers

No scores in this grade but boy did we get ALOT of tries!

U10 Noosa Fins 39 defeats Flinders 8

It was a beautiful morning on the rugby pitch at Maroochydore, where the Under 10’s headed into enemy territory against Flinders. Round 2 proved to be the game that this team started to form a cohesive group in both attack and defence. Each player knew what was expected of them and their fellow teammates. This made for great rugby to watch. Dominoes Player of the Week was Levi Cairns and special mention to Willem Uechtritz for the integral part he played.

U11 Matthew Flinders 49 def Noosa Fins 12

From the opening whistle the Fins were locked into a fierce battle against a well-trained Flinders team. Our forwards defended valiantly, however the backline skills of Flinders saw a number of bursts which took them over the line several times in the first half. After the break, things looked bad with their local giant lumbering down the field. Then, some Flinders sledging in the rucks fired up our team. Suddenly, our backs sprinted down the field; the forwards fought ferociously; players barged and charged… and over the line we went. “A fluke!” they cried. So we did it again! A really tough game which the team walked away from with heads held high and smiles all around.

Noosa Reds 12 drew Grammar 12

A well drilled and competitive Grammar side lived up to their much touted reputation as an epic battle was played out. New recruit Liam Olver spotted an opportunity on the blind side and darted forty metres to dot down in the corner leaving a tricky conversion in blustery conditions. The Noosa scrum proved to be the difference in the second half as the lads stole several tighthead scrums to secure much needed possession. Opportunities out wide we’re limited as the Grammar defence flirted with the offside line forcing the forward pack to find a way to the line. George White finally broke through and secured the much needed five pointer, with Charlie Harmer converting to tie the match. A massive team effort from the Reds lead from the front by Captain Eddy Connors and Dominoes Player of the Week Gusso Anderssen.

Saturdays match against the well-polished Flinders side was much anticipated and a big test for the Reds. Our forwards dominated from start to finish and gave our backs plenty of opportunity to play some slick open field rugby with 3 of the six tries coming from our speedy wingers Louie Griffen and Dayyan Van Veen. Special mention to our other try scorers Thomas Kibble, Jack Paenga & Angus low.

Our Dominos Player of the Week went to our Prop Neiko Ashton-Martin for his hard running and brick wall defence.
