We Remember

Under enemy fire in France William Alexander Le Petit rose from the trenches into no man’s land to rescue an officer. He carried the wounded officer over his shoulder to safety and received the WWI Military Medal for his gallant action.

While transcribing his father’s memoirs Noosa Today advertising manager Phill Le Petit came across world war stories and treasures brought back by his father, Alfred Harcourt Le Petit, who served on the beaches at Dunkirk during WWII and his grandfather, William Alexander Le Petit, whose heroic act in WWI earned him a Military Medal. As we marked Anzac Day last week and in the 100th anniversary year of WWI Noosa Today has shared these hard-earned momentos.

It is six months before we mark 100 years since the end of WWI on 11 November. If you have photos and stories your loved ones brought back from the war that you would like to share please email them to newsdesk@noosatoday.com.au
