Red-y to be red hot

Ginger, Rusty and Bluey are just some of the names given to red heads, but only one name was appropriate on Friday at the Yandina Ginger Factory and that was Red Hot.
Buderim Gingers’ nation-wide search to find Australia’s Hottest Ginger attracted more than 2300 entries with the winners, Bec Mountford and Nick Glen, being announced as the reddest of the red last Friday.
Bec, 18, said she felt privileged to represent gingers and was glad to have her unique feature celebrated.
“I’m like anyone else, just a bit different” said Bec.
Nick, 23, who is the only red head in his family, said he loved the experience and although he never thought of becoming a model before, might consider it now.
The winners go home with a 12-month modelling contract with Division Model Management and a share in the $15,000 prize pool.
Other winners include Michael Collie, 29, who took out the prize for Hottest Ginger Beard and Bailey Hart, 27, who won the People’s Choice Award after weeks of campaigning.
“I campaigned three times a day on Facebook and Instagram” said Bailey.
Sydney based red head Bailey is donating her prizes to be raffled with all money raised going to help the other well loved redheads, orangutans.
