GREY skies may have threatened, but the 107th annual Noosa Country Show attracted thousands of locals last weekend, and they went home happy.
Organisers of this year’s show said there was something for everyone and the ticket sales proved it.
Few country shows have stood the test of time as well as Noosa, and the Pomona showground is still the hub of the community, in the town where Noosa Shire was originally formed so many years ago.
For two full days, the main arena was full of horses and activity with people of all ages showing off what they have. Riders from all over regional Queensland came to enter with some as young as five years old.
As with all good shows, there was sideshow alley, rides of all kinds, face painting, great family entertainment and food as far as the eye could see.
The rain never really took hold and show goers were happy and right into the spirit of the two-day celebration.
Show president Perene Barker said she was delighted how things all came together over the two days.
“It’s been a labour of love again this year, but we’re very happy with the way it all came together,” she said.
“We’re a passionate show committee and thrilled with the program we assembled for 2016. I really want to thank them for their incredible efforts, allowing us to showcase the very best of Noosa Country to so many.
“We have to thank our many sponsors, too. Noosa Council has been a great support along with Geoff Edwards and the team at the Pomona and Cooroy Community Bank branches of Bendigo Bank.”
This year, The Radiators headlined an awesome line-up of entertainment including, X Factor’s Jimmy Davis, the Laser Light Spectacular and lots of KC Fireworks.
Monster Dinosaur Rolly Polly Trucks entertained the crowd on Saturday along with the Honky Tonk Rodeo and amateur and pro barrel racing and of course, the bull ride.
