Making meals and memories

THE Red Cross is hosting Snack and Chat sessions and a FOODcents program at local council venues. With food as a common theme for both, the sessions are designed to be informal, fun, and free and open to everyone.
Snack and Chat sessions are now being held every second Tuesday at Noosa Leisure Centre from 11am to 1.30pm, and the next session is Tuesday 29 September.
Apart from the opportunity to enjoy some lovely food, the sessions provide information about how to develop various community links. No bookings are required and there is no cost involved.
Participants can learn more about health and how to cook simple, great tasting food on a budget at FOODcents at the Cooroy Library. The two-hour workshops are suitable for adults and participants eat what they cook together.
The FOODcents program runs for six weeks commencing Wednesday 23 September, from 1pm to 3pm.
Maureen Farrington, zone representative for the Australian Red Cross, said they were aware that due to various life circumstances, people can become isolated.
“These sessions provide genuine opportunities to build connections,” she said.
Noosa Council’s community development officer Kylie Finigan said the council was pleased to be able to provide the venues and support for Australian Red Cross through its Community Grants program, to deliver great initiatives in our community.
Spaces are limited for FOODcents, so for more information or to book a place contact Gina on 0488 707 724 or email gcampion@redcross.org.au
