Chakera is jumping to it

COOROY Gymnastics Club have had their first WAG level 7 gymnast Chakera Thompson at Senior States, competing earlier this week.
This is a huge achievement, as it’s the first senior gymnast the club has had compete for many years.
Senior States was held at Chandler in the Sleeman Sports Complex in Brisbane with over 400 gymnasts in WAG MAG and ACRO from all over Queensland competing over the whole weekend.
Chakera currently trains 14 hours a week which is significantly less than those who she competed against who train18-25 hours a week.
Chakera is a committed young gymnast to the Cooroy Gymnastic Club and has been such a hard worker leading up to States. She is an inspiration to all of the younger gymnasts in the club.
She competed over two days at Senior States, first day being Senior State Championships and second day State Team Trial for Nationals which is held in May.
Chakera did not make the State team but did a spectacular job against all the gymnasts on all four apparatus, with some personal bests being achieved.
Her results from Senior States are as follows: Vault 12th, Bars 10th, Beam 14th, Floor 11th, AA 12th.
Cooroy Gymnastics and her coach Letisha Thomson are extremely proud of how she competed with her confidence, club spirit and achievements over the weekend.
They cannot wait to see her now work towards level 8 and help mentor the younger gymnasts who will be competing next year at Senior States with her.
