IT’S time to dust off the top hat and iron the suit, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is back again following great success last year.
More than 95 riders turned out on their classic and vintage motorbikes to the inaugural event in 2015 to support the ride and raise $18,500 for prostate cancer research.
This year, the worldwide Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has teamed up with Movember to raise awareness of men’s mental health.
Event organiser Cameron MacGowan said he hopes fellow riders will join him to raise over $20,000 for prostate cancer as well as men’s mental health.
“Last year we beat the Gold Coast who raised just over $17,000 with their ride,” he said. “I hope we can beat them again with a target of $20,000.”
Cameron said riders who wanted to come along on the day and take part in the ride through Noosaville, Peregian and Hastings Street needed to sign up soon, with 62 riders already registered for the ride on Sunday 25 September.
It is free to register for the event, that will start at 8am, but riders are encouraged to donate upon their entry to help reach the fund-raising target.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a worldwide event with rides taking place simultaneously around the country and on the same day around the world.
Noosa’s ride will start at the Bullit cafe on Mary Street in Noosaville at 8am before heading off along Gympie Terrace, south towards Peregian and then back up to a final parade down Hastings Street to the post-ride festival.
For more information on the ride or to register, visit www.gentlemansride.com and search for Sunshine Coast.
