Eumundi State School has finally had flashing lights installed out the front of the school to help students get to school safely.
The school sits on the corner of Eumundi Noosa Road and Napier Road, causing a blind corner for motorists travelling from Eumundi Noosa Road into Napier Road.
The new flashing lights are expected to have cost over $35,000 and have been installed to help warn motorists of the school zone.
School principal Mick Connors said the lights had been a “long time coming” but was a great initiative for a road that is “tucked in behind the school”.
“You don’t really notice there’s 600 kids in here,” he said.
“On days when motorists are travelling through here, it’s great to have the flashing lights and let them know we are all here.”
Member for Noosa Glen Elmes said most schools only received two lights, but Eumundi has had two powered lights installed and one high visibility sign installed and are waiting for a supervised crossing.
