THIS year marks 30 years of good surf and great fun for the Noosa Malibu Club which now boasts over 120 members.
The club first started in 1986 when two local surf groups, the Big Boys and the Animals, decided to join forces during a meeting at the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club.
The women’s, juniors and over 40s categories were introduced in 1990 and since then the club has grown to be a family-friendly group for keen surfers throughout Noosa shire.
Club secretary Rick Espiner, who has been surfing for more than 50 years, met with Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes, on Monday 21 November to receive a 30th birthday certificate to mark the occasion.
“The club is going from strength-to-strength,” Rick said. “We have a lot of engaged members and that is great. We have surfers right up to 80-years-old, a strong junior division and a women’s division. The club is great for families.”
