Community helps locals facing terminal illness

Social women’s network Life Beyond 30 creator Wendy Wilson has launched a donation project to help fund the Katie Rose Cottage Hospice.

Katie Rose Cottage Hospice is a free 24/7 palliative care service for those facing terminal illness in the community, provided by professional, registered nurses and carers. The hospice and its tranquil gardens are set in the heart of Doonan. There is a team of dedicated volunteers who generously give their time to keep the hospice running, including personal carers, gardeners, administration staff, hospice support teams and op shop volunteers.

Wendy said the hospice is an essential part of the community and provides comfort and support to families when they need it most.

“We’ve long been a supporter of Katie Rose hospice and a number of our members volunteer there,” she said.

“We’ve sponsored events and held raffles at our social events, but we wanted to do something that was consistent and long term.

“Our aim is to donate 10% of all new and renewed Noosa memberships to Katie Rose each month, it’s something we’ve always wanted to do and now thankfully we are in a position to do it.

“I believe that business has an important part to play in the community, whether it means being a part of a local business group, getting your team to donate blood or donating a small per cent of profits to a local cause. We can all do our bit.”
