Milliner and crochet tutor Janelle Turley admits she is rarely without a (crochet) hook in her hands which was hardly a surprise to visitors at the Noosa Arts and Crafts autumn show who were able to view her extensive collection on show.
A former hairdressing teacher Janelle has always loved craft work. Her magnificent hats and colourful rugs joined a diverse range of artworks and craft on display.
Alongside Janelle’s work lies the fabulous crochet, knitting and felt work of Alexis Heitmann. Having knitted and crocheted since she was about 10 years old, Alexis’ experience shows through in her exquisite work and her creativity shines in her felt creations.
The show also has on display a wide range of art and pottery including the stunning blue bowls made by Domi Cohen.
Boomerang Bags in various colours and sizes and made by volunteers to encourage residents to be plastic free is also on sale.
The wonderful display of arts and crafts which raises money for Noosa Arts and Crafts was spearheaded by president Gabi Dick.
On the weekend high tea has been made available for purchase to guests courtesy of a team of women including Judy Chipperfield. Judy was a country girl who went to Melbourne and landed a job with the Elizabeth Arden salon. In the evenings she worked a second job in a restaurant.
Judy and her husband moved permanently from Melbourne to their favourite holiday spot, Noosa, in 1984. In 2007 Judy and a friend opened Pomona’s first high tea cafe called Two Old Ladies and ran it until 2013, having a “lot of fun” along the way.
The Noosa Arts and Crafts show will run until 10 May at Wallace House, 1 Wallace Drive, Noosaville.
