Four local Noosa ladies (Susan Dunlop, Jan Bramley, Sharen Hynd and Jane Marren) under the team name, Chicks and Kicks, are taking part in the Coastrek walk from Mudjimba beach to Noosa Woods on Friday 26 July sponsored by Land & Sea brewery. Approx 1000 walkers will take part in the 30km trek to raise funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation and the fabulous work that they do to end avoidable blindness. Initially the “Chicks” committed to raising $2000 for the Foundation. They have passed that target and recently set new goals after realising that there are millions of needy people waiting for life changing surgery. As well as performing operations the foundation trains doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, establishes medical facilities, distribution centres and manufacturing centres so that these countries are self sufficient and independent into the future. “We want to do our part to make these people’s lives happier,” Susan said.
