Six new cases of Covid-19 were recorded overnight, bringing the state total to 1024.
Minister of Queensland Health Stephen Miles said Queensland is now doubling its case rate every 41 weeks, which previously peaked at three days.
Queensland’s total for the last week is 25, which was once our daily total of new cases.
“Six is good compared to those numbers, but it is not zero,” Mr Miles said.
“For that reason, we need to continue to be vigilant to do what we can to supress this virus.
“21 people are in Queensland hospitals right now with Covid-19, six of them are in intensive care and five of them are ventilated.
“We continue to test more than 1500 people a day, in fact we’ve tested more than 83,000 Queenslanders,” Mr Miles said.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the next month is critical before any decisions are made about schooling and the lifting of restrictions.
The Federal Parliament will be sitting in May to review.
The latest information from Queensland Health indicates the Sunshine Coast has only 13 active cases.
