New restriction lifted in QLD

Only two cases of coronavirus has been recorded across the state in the last 24 hours, both from the Gold Coast.

The state total is now 1045 but there are now only 50 active cases in Queensland, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said this morning.

Minister for Health Stephen Miles said health officials were pleased to see the number of those getting tested for the virus has risen, 4665 were tested in the last 24 hours.

Mr Miles said there are eight Queenslanders in hospital, three of which are in intensive care and all are receiving ventilation.

It comes as Ms Palaszczuk has announced that up to five members from one household can now visit another in time for Mother’s Day.

Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young is again urging anyone who is experiencing any respiratory issues or any other coronavirus like symptoms to get tested.

“The most important thing for everyone… is if you feel unwell, stay home.

“That is just so critical.

“I can’t stress that enough, stay home if you’re unwell and get yourself tested and if everyone does that, if all five million Queenslanders commit to doing that, we will be able to steadily move to a far more normal way of society operating,” Dr Young said.
