Hospitality operators are marching ahead with fundraising efforts for the eagerly awaited return of the ‘funnest’ running event on the Sunshine Coast.
Over 500 walkers and runners are expected to descend on the Lake Kawana circuit on 17 October for the Wishlist Fun Run after Covid cancelled the event the past two years.
Some businesses have grabbed the Wishlist Fun Run with both hands as the ultimate team building exercise.
Market Bistro Restaurant Manager Luke Stringer and his ‘Hot Mess Express’ team have a committed crew who are hurling themselves up and down Mount Coolum at the crack of dawn.
“We’re all really pumped for this new challenge and most importantly to raise money for our Local Hospital Foundation,” Mr Stringer said.
While Michelle and her team at Malt Shovel Taphouse are leading with $586 raised on their quest towards $3000.
Wishlist Events and Fundraising Manager Lisa Wilson said the previous two Fun Runs have raised more than $30,000.
“All the epic fundraising done by the local community is directed back into the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, with this year’s event going towards our latest ambitious project – Wishlist Centre,” Ms Wilson said.
“This annual community event is a favourite with live entertainment, massages, face painting, jumping castle, fresh fruit, BBQ and drinks.
“For those who registered last year, please get in touch with the Wishlist Team so we can organise your place.”
Kids will be kept on their toes when Stacey, a Wishlist-funded Calm Fairy, will facilitate a yoga warm up session by the Lake.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to arrive and be registered by 7am with the 10km race starting at 7:30am.
