Farmers market opens Monday

For the first time in more than 20 years the Noosa Farmers Market did not trade yesterday due to the extreme weather event.

Not only did shoppers miss out on their weekly supplies from their favourite local farmers and artisans but many farmers are now in the situation that they have on hand fresh local produce that must be sold. It can’t wait until next Sunday so in another first there will be a special Noosa Farmers Market Monday at the Noosa AFL grounds on Weyba Road.

“My family has operated the markets here for over 20 years, we’ve had floods before, and we have just come through a pandemic, but not once have we not welcomed people on a Sunday to buy their fresh produce,” market operator Shane Stanley said.

“Many of our local farmers are now left with quality fresh fruit and vegetables that will not last until next Sunday, it needs to be sold now, which is why for the first time the Noosa Farmers Market is operating Monday until lunch time.”

“It is not the usual market set up, there are 10 local farmers on hand offering quality farm produce, they can’t take it home again, it must be sold so there will be some great bargains on hand this this morning.” Shane Stanley said.

The local farming community needs your support, but consumers get the bargains with extra special buys this morning only.
