Dog survives crash that kills owner

A pet dog has survived a car crash that killed a woman at Tanawha on Sunday afternoon, 27 February.

Around 4.30pm a passing motorist noticed the woman laying on the side of the road on the Bruce Highway Sunshine Coast Motorway offramp near the intersection of Frizzo Connection Road and Cunning Road, Tanawha.

The motorist rendered immediate first aid to the woman before flagging down a passing police vehicle. The officer assisted the man in conducting CPR on the woman and coordinated an emergency response.

Her car, a white 1985 Ford Falcon Station Wagon was found in a nearby ditch, along with the dog.

Despite the best efforts of the pair and responding paramedics, the 29-year-old Tamborine woman died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, which is not considered flood-related.

Police are appealing for witnesses, especially those who may have dashcam vision of the vehicle travelling on or near Frizzo Connection Road prior to and including the crash to come forward.
