Tigers kick off the season

Well finally here we are at round one!

And what a mammoth challenge lies in front of the Rococo Noosa Tigers as all three senior men’s grades head down to the Gold Coast to play QAFL heavyweights Broadbeach on Saturday.

The defending champions will unveil their 2021 premiership flag in front of what is expected to be a bumper crowd for the opening of the state’s premier Aussie Rules competition.

One thing this pundit can guarantee to the Tiger faithful is that this year’s 2022 crop are fit, heaps taller and stronger and are ready to compete at this level.

At our season launch last Saturday, which was just a fantastic day, new head coach Chris Rourke told the Tiger supporters he was really pleased with what he had seen so far.

“I really can’t fault them. They have worked very hard and have been led by some outstanding team leaders. The standards they have pushed has been terrific and I’ll tell you all one thing,we are here to compete with anyone,“ he said.

Speaking of the season launch, what a wonderful action-packed day it was with Jas Bishoff and crew providing live music, Rococo our major sponsors cooking up a treat out on the deck and our coaches, players, sponsors, members and supporters all chiming in to make it a great day and way to launch what should be a very exciting year.

A massive thank you to Mandy Tupper, Jane Davis, Benny Collins and auctioneer Ashley Trompf who made the day what it was. I’m sure it will become a long standing tradition.

And what about the superb senior debut of former Noosa Tiger Maggie Harmer with the Brisbane Lions women’s team on Saturday as they smashed the Pies to move into the preliminary final at the home of footy,The MCG, next Saturday.

Awesome effort Mags, and all at the Noosa Tigers wish you all the very best this weekend!

Speaking of our women, the Noosa senior ladies had a convincing practice match win over Hinterland on the weekend with Eliza Trompf, Ruby Hamilton and Sasha Small standouts. Heaps of improvement was shown by plenty as the girls attempt to go three in a row when their season begins on 23 April.

Plenty of junior grading games are happening with even more again this Sunday in what has been a pretty hectic and unorganised schedule to start 2022 with ground unavailability and Covid still showing it’s ugly head. Good luck to all our juniors this coming weekend prior to the start of the Easter school holidays.

Remember to Google Noosa Tigers Facebook for all other information regarding the Noosa Tigers and see you at the footy on Saturday.

Games are at 9.30am Colts, 11.30am reserves and 2pm seniors (which will be livestreamed through our Tiger TV with commentary).

Go Tigers.
