Positive response for proposed Eumundi Supermarket

Altum Property Group has reported an overwhelmingly positive response for its proposed Eumundi supermarket project during the recently completed Public Notification Period which was undertaken as part of the development application.

Altum Property Group director Alex Rigby said in excess of 150 positive submissions (which are publicly available) were received which reinforced that the local community was calling out for basic infrastructure such as a supermarket to improve the convenience of living in Eumundi and its local catchment area.

“Many other hinterland towns now have their own supermarket and Eumundi residents feel that they have been left off the strategic planning map and combined with the rising cost of living, they are hopeful that Sunshine Coast Council support this supermarket application,“ Mr Rigby said.

“We have already addressed most of the objections which were submitted and while our application acknowledges there are some non-compliances with various planning scheme provisions, we believe it also includes relevant matters which justifies an approval from Council.

“We are now waiting for Council to review and consider the submission which is due to conclude on August 9 and then Council has 25 days to assess and decide the application, however, during this stage Council has the ability to issue a Further Advice Notice to raise any outstanding issues required to be addressed before the application can be decided.

“There’s still a way to go but we are confident our design and planning is appropriate for the area and we are also buoyed by the positive sentiment received from a wide variety of locals.”

The site application includes an approved service station development which covers over 4293 square metres while the remainder of the development includes a 1472 square metre retail centre, consisting of a 1200 square metre limited line supermarket and 272 square metres of specialty retail as well as 76 car spaces.

Altum Property Group have prepared a project information booklet which has been placed at key locations in Eumundi while an online version can be downloaded at altum.com.au/eumundidevelopment
