The Noosa Jazz Party got off to a sensational start at The Majestic Theatre on Sunday, with New York-based trumpet player Jon-Erik Kellso inspiring his supporting band for a performance of traditional, improvised jazz that the audience did not want to stop.
At the close, guests of the full house event got to their feet in a standing ovation asking for “more, more“.
It’s the magic of the Noosa Jazz Party where individual top-flight jazz musicians are invited and put together in ensemble or band combinations that challenge the players but result in exciting live jazz that gives the audience a unique experience.
The Party rolled out this week with dinners and luncheon jazz at restaurants and sold-out Riverboat Shuffle cruises from the Noosa Marina and continues until Sunday.
The marina has been a popular location at this year’s Jazz Party with jazz lunches continuing at Lucio’s Italian Restaurant on Thursday and Friday.
Miss Moneypenny’s in Hastings Street is also hosting a jazz lunch on Friday.
There will be Jazz at The J Theatre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and still the opportunity to hear Jon-Erik and the other 25 musicians.
The finale of the festival be the Hot Jazz Club of Noosa performing in a free concert at the Lions Riverstage, Gympie Terrace, Noosaville on Fathers Day afternoon from 2-4.30pm.
