Unitywater is asking the Noosaville community to fill up bottles and containers ahead of emergency repair works tonight (Wednesday 15 February).
A break on the water main along Eumundi Noosa Road needs repairing and works will be carried out from 9pm Wednesday evening.
Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Delivery Rhett Duncan said crews aimed to have water back on by 7am Thursday morning but the outage could go longer due to the nature of the works.
“We’re doing everything we can to safely repair the pipe and have water back on for our customers by 7am Thursday,” he said.
“The location of the break and how we drain and refill our network has added to the complexity of this repair.
“We have a dedicated team focused on the repair – we have crews working through the night to ensure minimal inconvenience to customers.
“We were going to complete the works on Tuesday evening but due to heavy rain and other complexities, we had to postpone the works.
“We’ve been working closely with aged care homes in the area, the hospital and Good Shepherd school to ensure we’re doing all we can to support them, as well as other critical customers.
“Customers should consider storing five litres of water in containers and bottles ahead of the outage for drinking and hand washing. And, we’re advising families of the Good Shepherd school to pack an extra water bottle for students tomorrow as a precaution if works continue past 7am.
“We know extended outages are inconvenient and we apologise for this. We thank impacted customers for their patience as we safely complete these urgent works.”
