Celebrate inclusivity at Disability Action Week

Celebrate diversity and inclusivity during Disability Action Week.

The Disability Expo featuring a special performance by Sunshine Butterflies, is the centrepiece of activities organised jointly by Noosa and Sunshine Coast councils as part of Disability Action Week, a vibrant celebration of inclusivity and diversity, from 25 November to 2 December.

Guests are invited to enjoy a free barbecue while exploring the expo at the Sunshine Butterflies facility in Cooroibah from 10am to 12pm on 28 November.

Noosa Mayor Clare Stewart said Disability Action Week provided an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate diversity, and showcase the talents of individuals of all abilities.

“As someone who has had a disability for the last 23 years, this Disability Action Week is incredibly important and significant to me on a personal level, ” she said.

Noosa locals can also take part in Sailability, an introductory session into sailing at the Noosa Yacht Club on 29 November from 9.30-11.30am.

Noosa Leisure Centre will host sensory play and Pampering for mums on 30 November and 1 December from 10am to 12pm. This event offers a relaxing and rejuvenating environment, acknowledging the crucial role mothers play in the lives of those with disabilities.

Other event highlights include art displays across the Sunshine Coast, showcasing the creative talents of people with disabilities, a photo competition celebrating the theme of inclusivity and resilience and a variety of sporting events, including wheelchair rugby, surfing, and yoga sessions.

All events during Disability Action Week are free, though bookings may be required for some activities.
