Officers from the Sunshine Coast District Highway Patrol and the Crime Prevention Unit partnered with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to conduct a third and final motorcycle workshop for the year on 12 November.
The workshop was held at the University of the Sunshine Coast, with more than 30 motorcycle enthusiasts in attendance.
Attendees had the opportunity to refresh and upgrade their motorcycle skills and chat all things motorcycles with police and other riders.
It was by far the most successful workshop of the year and even featured some friendly competition among riders as to who has been riding the longest, with one rider professed to having over 70 years’ riding experience.
Sergeant Dave Nelson from Highway Patrol and David Upperdine from the Department of Transport and captivated the audience with their knowledge and passion for motorcycle riding.
Senior Constable Rebecca McMeniman said, “It was great to see audiences were actively engaged and eager to learn the intricacies of safe motorcycle riding.“
“We were very lucky to have special guest Acting Superintendent Peter Flanders from Road Policing Specialist Operations attend on the day to share his vast motorcycle experience.“
