Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit set for Noosa

Sunshine Coast Youth Theatre is back this summer and pulling the headlines as they take to the stage with Disney’s rousing musical, Newsies Jr!

From the company that brought you Frozen Jr, The Addams Family and The Sound of Music, this abridged version is a perfect outing for the whole family.

A cast of 55 talented performers, all under 18 years of age, will bring this David and Goliath story to life, in this Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit!

Inspired by the rousing true story of the newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York, and an uplifting score by Alan Menken, Newsies Jr follows Jack Kelly, who rallies newsies from across the city to strike against unfair conditions after publishing giant, Joseph Pulitzer, raises newspaper prices at the newsboys expense.

The ’newsies’ learn they are stronger together and create a movement that has inspired generations to come, reminding us all that the fight for what is right is unimaginably important, no matter how young you are or how big the battle may seem.

Get your tickets and head to The Noosa J Theatre on 13 January at 2pm or 7pm and to The Events Centre Caloundra on 14 January at 4pm.
