The University of the Sunshine Coast’s Best Field Trip in the World competition for Year 11 and 12 students is now open for entries for 2025.
And this year each of the five winners can bring a friend on the three-day trip of a lifetime.
The trip includes a mechatronics lesson at Moreton Bay, VIP experiences with the Dolphins NRL rugby league team at Suncorp Stadium, kayaking in the Noosa everglades, a night on K’gari and lunch with the Sunshine Coast Lightning netball team – guided at key points by the University’s experts.
UniSC Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Helen Bartlett said the competition, now in its third year, has proven increasingly popular.
“The Best Field Trip in the World has been formulated to really showcase the breadth of activities a university student might enjoy as part of their studies – from world heritage wonders to encounters with world-class experts – reminding us that the university experience can be very hands-on, informative and adventurous,” Professor Bartlett said.
Last year’s winner Casey Springhall of Kingaroy attended the trip with her mother Jodie Springhall, a teacher, who said she was blown away by the experience and the connection to the real-life work.
“The biggest eye-opener for me coming from an education background was that UniSC has a really hands-on approach, but also that connection to the workplace,” Mrs Springhall said.
“You often don’t know where a degree might take you, but UniSC has really taken a first-hand experience to showcase the sorts of cool jobs you might have once you graduate,” she said.
The 2025 trip will take place from Thursday 10 April to Sunday 13 April.
