Police investigate alleged stolen vehicles and business break-in

Police are investigating several incidents involving two reportedly stolen vehicles on the Sunshine Coast on 7 May.

Around 12.10am police initially received reports of a vehicle attempting to be stolen from a business on Simpson Street, Beerwah.

A grey Jeep Grand Cherokee and a red Toyota Yaris arrived at the business and one person reportedly entered an orange Ford Ranger, parked at the business, and began to drive it away.

The owner of the Ford chased the car and was then involved in a physical altercation with the man attempting to drive it away.

The man driving the Ford then returned to the Toyota and drove the Toyota into the Ford several times, before driving away with the Jeep.

Shortly after, around 1.10am, police were called to reports of a break in at a business on Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore.

Upon arrival, police witnessed two people and the red Toyota Yaris at the business.

Police believe entry to the business was made by the Toyota driving into the front windows.

After being confronted by police, two people, ran from the scene and were picked up nearby by another vehicle.

Police followed the vehicle but lost sight of it on the Sunshine Motorway.

Police searched the Toyota, which remained on scene, and the area in and around the business and located personal belongings, knives, break and enter tools, and multiple items stolen from the business.

The Toyota has been towed to a police facility for forensic examination.

The Toyota was reportedly stolen from an Aspley address between 7am and 8.15am on 6 May along with a Jeep Cherokee.

Police believe multiple people to be involved in the incidents. Those people and the Jeep remain outstanding.

Investigations are underway and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
