Karla helps Noosa koala population

Karla the Coolest Koala was launched in Noosa in 2019 by Fizzi (Elizabeth Reynolds) and Lili (Linda Wills) .

“We have been friends since we were ten years old. I have always enjoyed writing and Lili is an exceptional photographer and watercolour artist. We decided to join forces to create a trilogy of books that would enchant children, celebrate Noosa and the Sunshine Coast and give back to our beloved koalas.” Fizzi explained.

“In our first book Karla bravely leaves the safety of her home in Noosa Woods to become a tourist for the day, on Hastings Street. Tourists love this book as a memento of a their wonderful holidays.

“Karla to the Rescue followed in 2021. Together with her friend, Chloe, they help save many lives during the disastrous Noosa bushfires. It is a moving story about humans and critters working together, and highlights the work of Maya, one of the Sunshine Coast’s especially trained koala tracker dogs.

Karla’s mantra is “We are One Universe – One Song.” She loves giving back to the community and is very proud of the thousands of dollars donated to Koala conservation and preservation including to Noosa District Landcare for planting new koala trees in Yurol State Forest.

In 2023, the trilogy was completed with the launch of Karla Discovers the Great Barrier Reef.

Karla’s books have gone worldwide and she has received two handwritten letters from Sir David Attenborough and from King Charles at Buckingham Palace.

To date nearly 10,000 Karla Trilogy books have been sold with donations to Koala conservation exceeding $6,500 and the team was last year named a finalist for the Sunshine Coast Business Awards.

Fizzi will be guest speaker at the Tewantin Noosa Probus Club’s meeting to be held at the Tewantin Noosa RSL on Tuesday 27 May at 10.30am with morning tea ($6). She will give insights into Karla’s backstory and journey as a novice and self published book creator and books will be on sale.
