Wide appeal of Hill Climb

The Noosa Hill climb isn’t just an important event on the motor sport calendar but part of a much wider challenge. The Inter Club Challenge is made up of members of several motoring clubs in SE Qld who participate in a range of events throughout the year from Hill climbs, Motorkhana, Autocross, Show & Shine to Street Navigation runs.

Chairman of the ICC, Christine Murphy, is once again entered in the Noosa Winter Hill.

Originally driving a Mini Cooper, called Eddie, this year she is driving a later model Mini Cooper S which is supercharged, this one called Patsy! (Followers of the British TV series Absolutely Fabulous will understand the names). The new car is lighter, smaller, supercharged, manual and feels natural on the track, Christine is aiming for some better times up The Hill.

Christine and her fellow club members like to compete in the Noosa event because you rub shoulders with invited legends like Fabian Coultard as well as grassroot racers. Christine said “all levels of experience are welcome and the sportsmanship shown by all is brilliant. Whether you have finished your run and waiting at the top of the hill, in the pits preparing for your next run or tweaking your car there is always someone asking how your day is going and wanting to hear your story and share theirs”.

Everyone has a Mini story, especially the classics, whether it was a beloved family car or a rally prepared giant slayer. Come along to the Noosa Winter Hill climb and catch up with the Mini crowd in the pits, 13-15 June.
