Community spirit continues with QCWA Tewantin Noosa’s new committee

QCWA Tewantin Noosa held its AGM on Wednesday 30 June, where the Branch congratulated new and continuing committee members following the presentation of position badges by Wendy Bebbington OAM, President, Nambour North Coast Division.

Attendees included Branch members, Mayor Frank Wilkie, Councillor Amelia Lorensten and representatives from local community groups, including OzHarvest Sunshine Coast and Noosa Women’s Shed.

On the evening, Annette Morris, OIC Noosa Ambulance attended and presented a thank you certificate to the Branch for ongoing support to Ambulance Wishlist. Each year the Branch donates a number of handmade blankets.

To finish the meeting, invited guest speaker, asked to talk about affordable housing, Mayor Frank Wilkie took the floor.

Information was provided on the Noosa Council Housing Strategy, local responses and State Government housing plans.

The Mayor shared welcome news for many in the community, that in regard to approved second dwellings, infrastructure costs will be waived from 1 July, a saving of around $7000.

The meeting was adjourned and guests enjoyed a light supper and refreshments.
