There’s always something special about the Gympie Music Muster — the music, the mateship, the memories — and this year it played host to a love story that had the Crowbar crowd cheering.
On Friday, 29 August, Channi Sanders surprised her partner Dove Kilpatrick with a proposal on stage during Brooke Schubert’s set, bringing the house down with one of the most memorable moments of the festival.
For Channi, the location couldn’t have been more perfect.
“It meant a lot to me to have the proposal in the Crowbar — it’s where we first met back at the 2022 Muster while Brooke was playing,” Channi said.
“We didn’t get together until a couple of years later, but the Muster has always been special to us. With Brooke back on stage this year, she was the natural person to be part of our love story. I asked Dove to marry me, and I’m so glad she said yes!”
Dove admitted she was caught completely by surprise.
“I knew she was planning something, but I had no idea what. When I saw her on one knee, I was completely shocked — I even thought we were taking over Brooke’s set,” Dove said.
“I forgot to say yes straight away, but it was always a yes. Channi is the love of my life, everything I’ve ever wanted and more. What a proposal!”
The Gympie Music Muster has long been a place where stories are made, and for Channi and Dove, it’s now the backdrop to the beginning of their next chapter together.
