Inspiring future tri-athletes

Noosa Tri Club held their important pre-Noosa Tri Training Event recently – giving local athletes the advantage of training the course ahead of the November 3rd race day. This year was especially important as it was supporting a range of juniors coming through the ranks, which is being gratefully helped through funding from the Queensland government’s Sports Grants program. As discussed with Member for Noosa, Sandy Bolton MP, these grants are so key to helping families keep their kids active with the example of the Noosa Tri Club using the funding to break down the bigger entry barriers of a bike and the sport’s clothing costs for local families.

The club is having a resurgence of members, which is no doubt linked to the healthy lifestyle that compliments what we can achieve when living in Noosa and the Sunshine Coast. If the breadth of the club’s membership is anything to go by, with active members right up into their 80s, the juniors will definitely have longevity in this sport

A huge congratulations to the juniors that have no fear in mixing it up with the adults, with one of our girls beating all the adults on the 1.5 km swim course. Hopefully this inspires other kids to join the junior sport’ ranks! With the help of grants like those from the State government, the club can continue to inspire future generations.
