Police say they are investigating several “anti-social incidents” which allegedly occurred at a rodeo and post-event camping in Imbil last weekend.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the Imbil Showgrounds camping area about 1am on Sunday, 28 September, emergency services were called to the campgrounds at Imbil Showgrounds following a reported assault.
A 19-year-old Coolum Beach man sustained head injuries and was transported to Gympie Hospital for treatment, police said.
The spokesperson said investigators were appealing for information or any relevant video.
In an unrelated incident about 10 minutes later, officers arrested a 27-year-old Minyama man accused of serious assault on a police officer while pretending to be armed, following an altercation.
He was remanded in custody and is due to face Gympie Magistrates Court on 4 November.
Police are also investigating a further assault reported to have occurred at the event around 10.30pm on Saturday, 27 September.
As part of police operations at the event, seven move on directions were issued, and two males were issued with public nuisance offences.
Police also conducted more than 800 random breath tests, issued 48 traffic infringement notices, and 8 drivers were charged with other traffic offences including drink driving and unlicensed driving.
Imbil Sergeant Andrew White said there was no place for violence and anti-social behaviour and police would not tolerate it.
“Police will be working with the relevant stakeholders including the event organisers and security providers in planning for any future events, with some changes expected to address the anti-social issues identified,” Sgt White said.
