The State Government has delivered a historic offer to the Queensland Teachers Union that will significantly improve workplace conditions and ensure every teacher is paid more than ever before.
Under this historic offer, every teacher in Queensland today will be paid more than $100,000 each year, by the end of the agreement.
Also included in the offer:
– An accelerated pay scale for teachers.
– New pay level of $135,000, plus super and incentives, for classroom teachers by the end of the agreement.
– Average principal salary of more than $200,000 plus super, by the end of the agreement.
– New safety taskforce to improve working conditions and stamp out violence.
– $1000 attraction and retention payments in regional areas.
– $400 payments for beginning teachers.
– $100 per night for teachers attending school camps.
The State Government is addressing workloads through the Red Tape Reduction Plan 2025-28, including upgraded IT systems, ready-to-go marking guides, lesson plans and editable templates, and recruitment resources.
The $45 million Behaviour Boost gives every state school principal funding to implement the best behaviour training, products, and programs for their classrooms, so teachers can focus on teaching and learning.
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek thanked the Department of Education and the Queensland Teachers’ Union for negotiating in good faith through conciliation.
“This is a historic offer that backs our teachers with higher wages, better conditions, and a reduced workload,” Minister Langbroek said.
“The Crisafulli Government has delivered an offer with the highest teacher salaries in Queensland’s history.
“We respect and value our hardworking teachers, and we know this is about conditions too, which is why our new safety taskforce is so important.
“We’re continuing to deliver targeted funding to tackle poor behaviour through the $45 million Behaviour Boost, along with our nation-leading $33 million anti-bullying plan to ensure schools are safe and respectful places to learn.
“This is part of our record $21.9 billion Education Budget which is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future by ensuring teachers are better supported and all children receive a world-class education.
“On the 150th anniversary of state education in Queensland, I want to again thank all our dedicated teachers, principals and school staff for their hard work as they continue to inspire the next generation of young Queenslanders.”
