After a six-year hiatus, one of Caloundra’s most cherished festive traditions is making its long-awaited return – Carols on Kings – will once again fill the Kings Beach Amphitheatre with music, smiles and festive cheer on Saturday, 13 December, 4 – 8pm.
The last event of its kind held in Caloundra was back in 2019, before the pandemic altered large-scale community gatherings. Since then, the calls to bring the event back have been loud and clear.
Thousands of locals and visitors from Gympie to Brisbane have fond memories of gathering under the stars, singing carols, and celebrating the festive season together.
“We’ve been reminded time and again how much this event means to our community,” Kim McCosker said, president of the Caloundra Business Alliance and best-selling author of 4 Ingredients.
“Carols on Kings has always been a multi-generational tradition where families, friends and neighbours come together to celebrate Christmas. It’s where grandparents sing alongside their grandchildren, where visitors feel like locals, and where the spirit of Christmas really comes alive.”
Kim continued, “We know expectations are high, and we share the excitement. But we also want to be honest – bringing back an event of this scale after such a long break takes time, resources, and community support. We may need to crawl before we walk, but we’re confident that once Carols on Kings is back, it will grow stronger year after year. This year is about rekindling the tradition and laying the foundation for its future.”
This year, the Caloundra Business Alliance, in collaboration with local stakeholders, is working hard to bring the event back to life.
Festive funding applications have been submitted to Council, but as Kim explains, “It’s just not enough to put on an event of this scale. We’re determined to make it happen, but we need our local businesses and community members to help us financially support the event. We have some generous sponsors so far.”
Sponsorship opportunities are now open, and contributions will go directly toward staging, entertainment, lighting, sound, entertainment and creating a magical experience for our families and visitors. Sponsors will be acknowledged publicly and celebrated as our community champions.
“We’re calling on our local heroes – businesses, organisations, individuals and performers – to help us make Carols on Kings a reality once again,” Kim said.
“With your support, we’ll all be singing with lots of cheer come event day!”
