Unitywater has replaced more than 250 water meters nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifecycle across Noosa since 1 July, and Cooroibah, Noosa Heads, Sunshine Beach and Tewantin are next on the list.
Unitywater Executive Manager Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions, Mike Basterfield, said the replacements form part of the utility’s $400 million investment to renew and enhance its
water and wastewater network.
“By proactively identifying and replacing water meters which have aged or had heavy use, including where high volumes of water have flowed through them, we’re maintaining exceptional service for our customers,” Mr Basterfield said.
“That includes ensuring water meter readings are correct and bills remain as accurate as possible,” Mr Basterfield said.
Mr Basterfield said replacing a meter typically takes around 30 minutes to one hour, so service interruptions are short.
“Residents having their meter replaced will receive a notification card in their letterbox at least 48 hours before the work commences,” he said.
“Our crews are always on the job for you, and after the work is complete, they’ll pop a card in your letterbox with a recording of the water consumption measured by the old meter.
“We encourage you to keep this reading for reference, and to cross-check it when you receive your next Unitywater bill.”
