Sunshine Coast 2032 has celebrated a defining year of growth and progress, marking its transition from establishment into activation as part of a longer-term strategic plan to build towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Over the past year, Sunshine Coast 2032 has strengthened its role as a well-connected, community-driven organisation, expanding partnerships, deepening engagement, and building the governance needed to support a lasting regional legacy beyond 2032.
Chair Roz White said that with 70 Foundation Sponsors now on board and an expanding network of community, industry and government partners, Sunshine Coast 2032 had significantly broadened its regional impact and momentum.
“This year has seen a critical shift for our organisation. Sunshine Coast 2032 is now firmly positioned to start activating our local community, and championing outcomes that create long-term benefits for our whole region,” said Mrs White.
“None of this would have been possible without our Sunshine Coast 2032 volunteers, patron, ambassadors and sponsors, whose generous contributions continue to strengthen our community’s voice and shape our shared vision.”
Sunshine Coast 2032 last night acknowledged the organisation’s progress at a gathering of foundation sponsors, ambassadors, Board directors, athletes and community leaders.
Patron Duncan Armstrong OAM OLY joined Paralympic and Olympic athletes in recognising the organisation’s momentum and the growing opportunities across sport, business, innovation and community life.
“The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games brings an exciting and truly once-in-a-generation opportunity for our region,” Mr Armstrong said.
“This year shows the power of collaboration and community spirit. Sunshine Coast 2032 is laying foundations that support young athletes, strengthen business and create a more accessible, connected region for long after 2032.”
Mrs White said Sunshine Coast 2032 was now well-positioned to lead the region into the next phase of opportunity.
“The momentum built this year sets a strong foundation for the years ahead, as we continue to activate our vision and deliver meaningful, tangible legacy outcomes for our community,” she said.
