Peregian carols bring joy

The Peregian Beach Carols 2025 lit up the park with festive spirit on Sunday 22 December, drawing an estimated 3,000–4,000 locals and visitors for one of the Sunshine Coast’s most loved Christmas traditions. Now in its 61st year, the much-anticipated community event once again proved why it holds a special place in the hearts of families from all over Noosa and the broader Sunshine Coast.

After an initial rescheduling due to high winds, the Carols went ahead under clear skies, with warm community vibes. The decision to move the event ensured the safe arrival of the Carols’ most famous guest – Santa Claus – who thrilled children and adults alike by skydiving onto the beach to loud cheers and applause.

Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club president and event MC Leigh McCready said the organising committee was proud to put on the 2025 Peregian Beach Carols.

“We started with a slight hiccup as the Carols needed to be re-scheduled due to high winds, which would have prevented Santa from landing safely. Skydiving Santa is the highlight of the event, and so we made the difficult decision to move Carols to Sunday the 22nd. The weather ended up being perfect – not too hot, not too rainy and not too windy!”

The evening featured a packed program of live music and performances, showcasing local talent and community groups. Performers included children from Peregian Beach Kindergarten, the Sunshine Coast Show Choir, SkillzFJ, and popular local musician Brett Gadenne (Raw Audio), who performed alongside his sister Loree Gadenne. The mix of youthful energy and professional musicianship had the crowd singing along and dancing up a storm.

Families enjoyed a relaxed picnic atmosphere with food trucks, artisan Christmas gift stalls and festive treats creating a vibrant village feel along the foreshore.

Ms McCready highlighted the collaborative effort behind the scenes.

“The event is a collaboration between Peregian Family and Friends residents’ association, Peregian Beach Business Association and the Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. As soon as we wrap up one event, we pretty much start organising the next one!”

She also acknowledged the strong support from sponsors and partners.

“We were so fortunate to have many sponsors come on board to make the event possible, including both the Noosa Shire and Sunshine Coast Regional Councils plus White’s IGA and Neller Real Estate. Skydive Australia sponsored Santa’s skydive, with local businesses Peregian Family Medical, Peregian Beach Hotel and Sunshine Coast Music and Events helping create an absolutely wonderful evening for everyone.”

With smiles, carols and community connection, the Peregian Beach Carols 2025 once again delivered a memorable start to Christmas on the Coast.
