Leon Stensolm launches raw new podcast

NRL star Darius Boyd is among big names who are set to get vulnerable in a groundbreaking Sunshine Coast podcast dedicated to fostering open conversations about mental well-being.

Hosted by Leon Stensolm with co host Adam Straney, It’s How You Think podcast aims to dismantle stigmas surrounding mental health and provide a platform for candid discussions, compassionate insights, and practical support.

Through honest conversations, personal stories, and interviews, the podcast addresses a wide range of topics, including stress management, depression, anxiety, relationships, and self-care.

Drawing from his own experiences and those of his guests, Leon creates a safe space where listeners can feel understood, validated, and inspired to take proactive steps towards their well-being.

Darius made his NRL debut at just 18 years of age and he would go on to represent Queensland and Australia over a 15-year career that comprised of more than 380 top level games.

He took a break from rugby league in 2014 to seek treatment for his mental health issues, and has been an advocate for mental health awareness and support ever since.

In 2020, Boyd released a book titled Battling the Blues in which he shares his story of living with mental illness and provides advice and resources for others who may be struggling.

He’s featured alongside other guests like Kevin Hines; who is an American suicide prevention speaker who attempted suicide by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California in 2000 at the age of 19.

His story gained major media coverage and he has since become a motivational speaker and advocate for suicide prevention.

They’ll also talk to much loved Australian television and radio host Gus Worland, who is a passionate advocate for building the mental fitness of Australians.

Gus founded Gotcha4Life in 2017, following the success of the ABC series Man Up and losing a very close friend and life mentor to suicide, as he realised he had the ability and networks to make a real difference.

You’ll also hear from sports stars like Sharni Layton, a former Australia netballer, Netball World Cup and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Collingwood premiership player, and AFLW All Australia.

The podcast is now available on all major platforms, including Apple, Spotify and podbean, with new episodes released weekly. Listeners can subscribe to stay updated on the latest discussions and access valuable resources for mental health support.
