If the thought of public speaking makes your palms sweat, you’re not alone. But there is another way, what if stepping up to the mic could actually feel fun, supportive, and even inspiring?

That’s what’s happening at the upcoming free Open House hosted by Noosa Toastmasters at the Tewantin CWA Hall, 123 Poinciana Ave, Tewantin on Monday 19 May from 6-7.30pm. This ‘come and try’ event is a relaxed introduction for anyone who’s ever thought: “I’d love to be a more confident public speaking, but where do I start?”

“We create a supportive space for beginners and people with more experience in public speaking,” says Club President Shannon Ichikawa. “No pressure, just positive encouragement and practical tools you can use right away.”

The evening includes mini workshops to try out real speaking exercises, a look behind the scenes at how Toastmasters meetings work and the roles of members, Q&A, light refreshments and warm conversation with local members.

Guests will also hear from current members about their journeys, including how they overcame nerves, built self-confidence, and even learned to enjoy speaking in front of others.

“I came as a guest and instantly felt at home,” says Elisabeth, who recently visited the club. Another guest, Abby, described it as “very inspirational, absolutely recommend it.”

Toastmasters is an international non-profit organisation offering affordable personal development, with a proven system of communication and leadership training through experiential learning.
