A sport known for its glitz and glamour is set to give the Sunshine Coast an economic injection with visitors expected to flock to the “world-class event”.
Part of the world’s largest and most successful polo series, Polo By The Sea will make its long-awaited debut on the Sunshine Coast with all the glitz and glamour the sport has to offer.
With 30 per cent of attendees historically from outside the Local Government Area the event will boost accommodation, retail, hospitality, and transport businesses.
Caloundra Chamber chief executive officer Brady Sullivan said the prestigious event would be a significant generator of economic benefits and a great social event.
“Providing exciting activities such as Polo By The Sea is essential in the branding of our region to ensure we are competitive in attracting a younger workforce demographic,” he said.
Held along Maroochy River the Coastline BMW Polo By The Sea uses a variation of polo under the guise of Urban Polo to make the match faster and more exciting for guests.
All guests are guaranteed to be close to the action and will enjoy award-winning entertainment and hospitality at the interactive event.
Events Queensland Event Director Matthew Turich said the Sunshine Coast presented a unique, diverse, and prosperous destination for the events and tourism industry.
“The Sunshine Coast has always been a great spot for both locals and tourists. It’s got everything from picturesque beaches to the stunning hinterland as well as a booming hospitality scene and we are so excited to be able to bring our event to the area to be a part of that community,” he said.
“We look forward to partnering with Coastline BMW, Sunshine Coast Council, the business sector, and the broader community to deliver a world-class event, which will provide social engagement, economic stimulus, and showcase the very best the region has to offer to an extensive audience.”
The Coastline BMW Polo By The Sea Sunshine Coast will be delivered by Events Queensland in collaboration with the Urban Polo Association and is part of a series, which includes events on the Gold Coast & Palm Beach, with a number of additional locations earmarked for 2023.
