Luxurious cabins introduced at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge

The Crocodile Hunter Lodge offers a magical overnight experience for guests while being surrounded by wildlife and wilderness, with stunning one-bedroom cabins introduced in addition to the existing two-bedroom Black Cockatoo cabins.

Inspired by Steve Irwin’s life, legacy and love for wildlife and wild places, The Crocodile Hunter Lodge provides luxurious accommodation, helping guests escape and unwind while reconnecting with the natural world.

The one-bedroom Red Kangaroo cabins offer a wonderful scenic view of the bushland, including a wrap-around deck, kitchen, stone bathtub and heated floors, creating the ultimate experience for guests to cherish.

Australia Zoo’s Terri Irwin said, “We’re delighted to introduce four wonderful one-bedroom cabins for guests, which will help us cater to groups of different sizes.“

“The Lodge offers a unique and immersive experience that not only reflects on our conservation work, but honours Steve’s important dream to connect people with wildlife and encourage them to become true conservationists.”

The Lodge’s Red Kangaroo cabins are particularly suited for couples as they enjoy a refreshing retreat at their home away from home, waking up to the sounds of wildlife from their spacious deck and watching the kangaroos graze on the grass.

Each cabin contains Bindi Irwin’s book, Creating a Conservation Legacy which discusses Australia Zoo’s remarkable history, and Robert Irwin’s photography book, Robert Irwin’s Australia, which exhibits powerful imagery and its profound connection to wildlife conservation.

Guests will find nest boxes placed around their cabin for microbats, owls, kookaburras, possums and parrots, creating a special home for them in the wild where they belong.

Guests staying at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge receive complimentary breakfast and a welcome gift pack, exclusive access to The Billabong, a 25 metre infinity pool, unlimited entry to Australia Zoo and a Sneak Peek tour of the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

An extraordinary multi-species habitat at the Lodge is home to red kangaroos, emus and koalas, while a wild mob of eastern grey kangaroos can be seen hopping around the Lodge each day.

Located at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge is Warrior Restaurant and Bar, which offers a fine dining experience from all that Australia’s culinary world has to offer.

Wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin said, “Warrior Restaurant and Bar provides an excellent fine dining experience for everyone, not just guests staying at the Lodge, and includes a private dining room to celebrate special occasions.“

“We’re excited for guests to have a memorable experience at Warrior with their loved ones, while overlooking our gorgeous animals that reside there.”

Robert Irwin, world-renowned wildlife photographer, said, “At Australia Zoo and our charity Wildlife Warriors, we are involved in conservation projects around the world to give animals a second chance in the wild.“

“With entire wildlife species diminishing at an unprecedented rate, it has never been more important to look after the planet and our wildlife, ensuring that they are around for generations to come.”

The Crocodile Hunter Lodge is proud to support sustainable initiatives that are already in practice at Australia Zoo.

The build of the Lodge includes timbers recycled from the world-famous crocodile viewing grandstands, built with Steve Irwin’s own hands at Australia Zoo.

Over 3000 native trees and shrubs are planted throughout the vast grounds, including endangered species of eucalyptus near the Red Kangaroo cabins, creating natural wildlife corridors for wildlife along with purposefully placed nest boxes.

Recently, the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital released a patient near The Crocodile Hunter Lodge in a soft release area, which helps rehabilitated animals transition back to life in the wild.

Heath is a common brushtail possum who received specialised treatment at the Wildlife Hospital, and is the first patient to be released into the area. With thousands of native trees and over 70 nest boxes, little Heath is enjoying his beautiful natural habitat.

The Crocodile Hunter Lodge is now offering lavish one-bedroom and two-bedroom cabins, with three-bedroom cabins being introduced in 2023. This will include an accessibility cabin in addition to the existing two-bedroom accessibility cabin, to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay for everyone.
