It was a celebration of books and a parade of colour at St Teresa’s Catholic College as they marked Book Week. The college devoted the week to the importance of literature and reading with fantastic displays, school-wide competitions and quizzes, its annual Book Week Parade and a visit from inspirational Sunshine Coast author Pat Flynn.
An Extreme Reading photo competition drew some imaginative entries based on this year’s theme of Find Your Treasure. There were treasure maps, a real-life pirate ship and treasure hunts.
Book Week is celebrated annually nationwide, and St Teresa’s staff and students were excited to get involved. Staff were delighted to see such a high participation rate by students in an age where technology appears to be taking over.
Teacher librarian Debra McGhee was “most impressed with the enthusiasm and involvement of both students and staff”.
David McInnes, Principal of the College principal David McInnes said the colour, excitement and enjoyment all added to the significance of the celebration.
