Big Pineapple Festival announces 2025 date

The Big Pineapple Festival is set to celebrate its 10 year anniversary with a blockbuster event on Saturday 1 November 2025.

Marking a decade of championing homegrown music talent, the festival will return to the iconic Pineapple Fields in Woombye with its signature all Aussie lineup (with a few exceptions).

This milestone comes on the heels of the Big Pineapple Festival being named Best Music Festival at the 2025 Queensland Music Awards – its fourth time receiving the honour, following a triumphant 2024 comeback after a three year hiatus.

Over the past decade, the Big Pineapple Festival has built a reputation for supporting Australian artists across rock, indie, hip-hop and electronic genres.

Since its inaugural event in 2013, the festival’s stages have hosted a who’s who of Aussie music – from established legends to rising stars.

Notable acts who have performed at Big Pineapple over the years include dance music royalty Rufus Du Sol, Hayden James, Example and Alison Wonderland, alternative rock icons Birds of Tokyo, Grinspoon and The Living End, roots favourites John Butler Trio and Ocean Alley as well as indie and pop powerhouses such as Vera Blue, The Veronicas, Ball Park Music, Illy, Dune Rats and Violent Soho.

Even the 2024 edition upheld this tradition, with a lineup boasting chart topping homegrown stars such as The Amity Affliction, Tones And I, Bliss n Eso and Peking Duk. This unwavering dedication to Australian talent has been central to the festival’s identity and appeal.

“When we started this festival years ago, our goal was to put Australian artists front and centre and create an unforgettable experience for fans,” Mark Pico said, founder and Festival Director of Big Pineapple Festival.

“To be here over a decade later with the festival stronger than ever and even earning industry awards again…is incredibly humbling. It’s a testament to the amazing community of artists, attendees and partners who have believed in the Big Pineapple Festival from the start.”

The festival’s success and impact have made it a staple of the Sunshine Coast cultural calendar. It has now clinched Queensland Music Awards titles for Festival of the Year (People’s Choice) four times, including three consecutive wins, underlining its enduring popularity. Each year the event draws thousands of attendees from around the country, delivering significant economic benefits to the region. In 2024, the event brought in over $10,000,000 to the local economy, quantified by an independent financial impact survey.

The ongoing support of the Sunshine Coast Council has been instrumental to the festival’s growth and longevity. Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Rosanna Natoli said the Big Pineapple Festival was a highlight of the Sunshine Coast’s events calendar.

“We are proud to support an occasion that brings our community together and boosts our local economy,” Mayor Natoli said.

“Over ten years, this festival has showcased incredible local talent and put our region on the map as a music destination.”

In line with its commitment to the local music scene, this year’s festival will also shine a spotlight on emerging artists.

Organisers have announced that the 2025 event will feature a performance by the Rising Star winner of the newly established Sunshine Coast Music Awards.

This inaugural award program, launching in 2025, will see one up and coming Sunshine Coast artist earn a coveted slot on the Big Pineapple Festival stage.

By hosting the Sunshine Coast Music Awards’ Rising Star, the Big Pineapple Festival is further investing in the region’s musical future and giving new talent a chance to play alongside established acts.

Stay tuned for ticket on sale information and lineup announcements in the coming months – the full program of artists and ticket details will be released soon.
