Theatre of the unusual at the Anywhere Festival

The Bureau of Dodgy Dreams theatre production will be performing as part of the Anywhere Festival at the Wallace House in Noosaville on Saturday May 11 at 3pm and 7pm.

Titled “The Bureau of Dodgy Dreams”, this production is the result of masterclasses in puppetry and mask theatre conducted by performance artist David Erskine.

With support from Noosa Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund, David has been working with two emerging artists, imparting skills and developing narratives for an original theatre production.

“This has been a most enriching experience for me,” he said.

“The true value in teaching and theatre directing is in the exchange of ideas and the openness to new thought. And that has certainly been the case here, working with two highly motivated and talented young people.”

David, a recent resident in the Sunshine Coast, brings with him many years of experience in the performing arts, which has included: touring with circuses in Europe in the 1980s, performing in schools and festivals across Australia and overseas, and in more recent times living in Germany and working in arts education.

“I have always been fascinated in the notion of bringing life to the inanimate. This I believe is where the core of the imagination dwells. In the Bureau of Dodgy Dreams, we present a series of short-form plays. Dark, sassy, brutish, comedic, and with no two acts alike, these dreamlike vignettes seek to explore the nature of our inner landscape through mask, puppetry and illusion,” David said. For bookings and more information visit www.anywhere.is and www.foolstheatre.com.
