Duo behind Bella Venezia unveils bold new chapter for Mooloolaba’s dining scene

A standout dining destination is set to make waves in Mooloolaba, as hospitality powerhouses Kristine and Todd Young – the innovative duo behind the multi-award-winning Bella Venezia Group – unveil their latest venture: Fish House Steak & Grill.

Occupying the landmark site formerly home to Fish on Parkyn and Sakana at the iconic Mooloolaba Spit, this highly anticipated restaurant is already turning heads for its refined menu and exceptional culinary leadership.

“There’s something really special about this part of Mooloolaba and it’s well-loved by so many locals and visitors,” Kristine said.

“We’re honoured to build on this legacy with Fish House Steak & Grill, while also introducing something completely fresh to the area.”

Under the leadership of executive chef Ben Achurch – celebrated for his acclaimed tenure at Bella Venezia and his role in shaping the success of several premier dining destinations – the venue is backed by an elite and passionate team that brings experience and a deep knowledge of The Spit’s celebrated seafood culture.

In a seamless continuation of local talent, the menu will spotlight fresh seafood from the Mooloolaba wharves and locally sourced meats from Queensland farmers, as well as a premium dry-aged beef display and a semi-open kitchen where you can watch the sizzle and flame of the grill in action.

“The menu brings together the freshest local ingredients from both land and sea, with refined, contemporary techniques,” Kristine said.

“Guests can expect signature dishes like our Glacier 51 toothfish glazed with Peachester honey miso, sashimi-grade Mooloolaba yellowfin tuna, and perfectly charred Diamantina Wagyu sirloin.

“The experience is rounded out with a curated wine list, signature cocktails and a dining space that embraces natural textures and open-air elegance with seating for 130 guests, plus a private dining room for up to 14 people.”

More than just a restaurant launch, the opening of Fish House Steak & Grill is a signal of renewed vitality in Mooloolaba. With a growing appetite for destination dining, the tourism hotspot is fast becoming a must-visit culinary hub.

“Having been part of the Mooloolaba restaurant scene for over two decades, it’s incredibly exciting to witness the evolution that’s happening here,” Todd said.

“There’s a real sense of growth and energy in the area, and we’re proud to be contributing to that revitalisation with a dining experience that celebrates everything this region has to offer.”

Open daily from 6:30am until late, Fish House Steak & Grill also offers a relaxed outdoor dining option for dine-in and takeaway fare.
